‘Naam Jalebi Bai’: Jalebi Frenzy on Social Media as BJP Stuns Congress in Haryana

After the Haryana assembly polls, the "Jalebi" meme has gone viral, originating from Rahul Gandhi's comments about famous jalebi shop in Gohana.

Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) may have won 48 seats in Haryana assembly polls, but it was sweetness of jalebis that actually spiced up election result on Tuesday. As counting of votes for assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir began, Congress party workers distributed sweets and celebrated with dhol beats.

However, BJP gained more seats as day vanced, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed his party would form a government in state yet again.

But, much before, during campaigning for Haryana elections, Rahul Gandhi , in one of his speeches, h mentioned late Matu Ram, who owned a popular jalebi shop in Gohana.

Why is Jalebi Meme Trending? 

While dressing an election rally in Gohana, Rahul Gandhi showed a box of jalebis by Matu Ram ‘halwai‘ and said he tasted famous jumbo-sized jalebis in his car and sent a mess to his sister and party leer Priyanka Gandhi Vra , saying, “Today I have eaten best jalebi of my life. n I told ( Congress leers) Deepender and Bajrang Punia ji that this jalebi should go to whole world,” he told rally.

However, Rahul Gandhi ’s idea became fodder for trollers who said that jalebis are meant to be consumed fresh, and t to be sold in far-off areas.

Rahul h also emphasized that jalebi from particular shop should be sold across country and that jalebis should also be exported which will generate more employment opportunities.
