Rubber bands are one of the most essential items in the household, used for everything from tying hair to a variety of other purposes. Due to their affordability, no one ever really thought about the process behind their manufacturing.

In today’s episode of ‘How Things Are Made,’ social media has surfaced with a video from inside a rubber factory, shedding light on the surprising complexity and effort involved in their production. Many are amused by the contrast between the manufacturing process and the end product's cost.

The video, shared by Instagram user Salove Bhardwaj (@foodiee_sahab), provides an in-depth look into the rubber band manufacturing process. Bhardwaj, known for posting unique and captivating content, has once again sparked widespread interest with this revealing footage.

Check out the viral video:

The process begins with an incision made on the trunk of a rubber tree, allowing a milky liquid, known as latex, to drip out and be collected in small containers. This latex is the primary raw material used in the creation of rubber bands.

Once collected, the latex is mixed with various additives and colors to achieve the desired properties. The mixture is then transferred between drums and poured onto rods. These rods, coated with the latex mixture, are left to dry. After drying, the rubber is carefully removed from the rods and cut into small pieces using a specialized machine.

To finish the process, the rubber bands are treated with a glossy liquid to enhance their appearance and left under the sun for final drying. The entire manufacturing process is labor-intensive and requires significant attention to detail, with numerous workers contributing their skills and efforts to ensure quality.
