In a distressing account shared on Reddit, a former project manager recounts the harrowing circumstances leading to their termination from a company after eight months of service. The individual highlights the challenges faced during their tenure, including intense work pressure, a recent medical diagnosis, and an unfortunate accident, all culminating in an unprecedented demand for payment in exchange for an experience letter.
The whole incident was shared on the Reddit social media application by a username “Randy31599.” And in this he also explained that in those 8 months he had immense pressure which resulted in his bad health. Moreover, he said because of this he was diagnosed with fatty liver disease, followed by a bout of chickenpox that left him physically unable to perform their duties.
Seeking relief, he requested a mere three days of leave to recuperate. But instead of that he received an email from the CEO instructing them to work from home, a request he found difficult to accommodate under the circumstances.

In the post he wrote, ‘I am a project manager, and I worked at a company for more than 8 months. They even gave me a raise and everything, but as time went on, the pressure became intense, and I couldn't handle it.
A month ago, I was diagnosed with fatty liver, and a week later, I contracted chickenpox. When I asked for just 3 days of leave, my CEO emailed me, asking me to work from home, but I refused and only partially supported the team. However, I was feeling the need to take a break, so I submitted my resignation due to medical reasons and requested an early release in 1 month.”
The situation escalated when he suffered an accident, injuring their hand. He reiterated his resignation, emphasizing the need for an early release due to their injury and ongoing health issues. Yet, the company displayed a complete lack of empathy, refusing to grant their request.
“My CEO refused to accept my resignation, despite my medical condition, and asked me to continue working. Amidst these ongoing issues, I had an accident and injured my hand. I then reiterated my resignation with the addition of my injury and again requested an early release. My company still refused and showed no empathy. I took 2 days of leave to process this.”
After taking two days off to cope with the stress, the project manager was shocked to receive a termination email the day after submitting their resignation. The company threatened to report that the employee left improperly during background checks and demanded three months' salary to provide an experience letter.
“The day after my resignation, they sent a termination email, threatened to report that I left improperly in the background verification (BGV), and demanded 3 months' salary to provide me with my experience certificate,” The user added.
The user asked for help on the online platform and people said that he should consult a good lawyer and some even suggested that they should reach out to the Ministry of Labour.
User Reactions to the Post:
One of the users said, “Consult a good lawyer. If you are in Bengaluru, Prime Legal are good lawyers that had helped me with some legal issues.
The company is harassing you.”
Another one said, “Walk in with chickenpox to the CEOs cabin and be escorted out with whatever your demand is.”
A third one wrote, “There is nothing like company did not accept resignation. Once you send the email it’s done. You can take it back if they allow you but once you tell them you have leave they can’t deny that right to you. Get a lawyer , everything else they are saying is bs.”
