Bengaluru: The co-founder of an Indian tech giant Infosys, a philanthropist and wife of Narayan Murty, Sudha Murty, was recently trolled after her video post on social media went viral.
In her viral post, Sudha Murty shared her insights on the Indian festival Raksha Bandhan. According to her post, ‘Raksha Bandhan has a rich history. When Rani Karnavati was in danger, she sent a thread to King Humayun as a symbol of siblinghood, asking for his help. This is where the tradition of the thread began, and it continues to this day.’
After the post went viral, a barrage of comments started pouring in, with people from all across the internet sharing their thoughts and opinions on the same.
According to many, Raksha Bandan is related to Krishna and Draupati, not Karnavati and Humayun. People also started giving examples of Indian mythologies to support their opinions.
One user wrote, ‘It's a real surprise for me that you, as a writer, are telling this crap. Raksha Bandan is related to Krishna and Draupati. Please educate yourself.’
Another user says, ‘At this moment, I know you know nothing about Indian festivals and culture if you believe in this nonsense story. I'm sorry to have recommended your books for kids. They don't need to learn this manufactured story. Please read about Draupadi's Raksha Sutra for Srikrishna and the significance of Shravan Poornima.’
One more user shared, ‘Story of Karnavati-Humayun Rakhi is fiction floated by leftist Marxist historians as lalit sahitya to shamefully exploit Bharat's dharmic festivity and burden Hindus with secular sarva dharma adage, ignoring no such event ever happening. Rana Sangha's Queen united Sidodias to fight back.’
Sudha Murty Raksha Bandhan Viral Video:
The origin of the Raksha Bandhan tradition is a mystery. According to Hindu mythology, the story of Krishna and Draupadi is often cited as an example of the Rakshabandhan bond.
When Krishna cut his finger while beheading Shishupala, Draupadi tied a piece of cloth around his finger to stop the bleeding, and Krishna promised to protect her as a brother.
