Viral News: A former Google employee took an unconventional approach to make his CV more exciting.

Jerry Lee, a New York-based techie, included some eyebrow-raising achievements in his CV, such as “expert in Mia Khalifa” and “set the fraternity record for most vodka shots in one night.”

The results of his social experiment aimed to figure out how far his Google credentials would carry him in his job search.

The response has stunned the internet.

What Was the Response?

Jerry Lee, who spent three years at Google as a Strategy and Operations Manager, wanted to see how closely recruiters scrutinize CVs. He wanted to check if Google's credentials were enough to land him interviews.

To his surprise, the bizarre additions did not create an obstruction but rather received a positive response.

Despite adding claims like "expert in former porn star Mia Khalifa," Lee managed to get 29 interview calls over six weeks. Major industry giants like MongoDB and Robinhood reached out to him for interviews.

Lee's Instagram Post

Taking to his Instagram, Lee shared three lessons from this experiment.

The founder of the career consulting firm Consulting explained the importance of a clear and concise résumé.

“Focus on strong bullet points, clear job titles, and the impact you've made,” he advised job seekers. “Periods and font sizes are fine details, but it's the big stuff that gets you noticed.”

“Big names catch eyes, but don’t sweat it if you haven’t worked at a 'big name'—just make sure your achievements pop with quantifiable results. It’s about the skills you bring to the table, not just where you polished them," he added.

While concluding, he asked candidates to keep their CVs simple and use a structured template. “Recruiters love them because they can spot the info they need at a glance,” he finally shared.
