Viral Video: Karnataka Tourists Defy Waterfall Ban, Cops Walk Off With Their Clothes

Bengaluru: Taking "modern problems require modern solutions" to new heights, Karnataka Police have crafted an inventive punishment for tourists who defied a monsoon ban on waterfall bathing, earning praise from netizens.

At Charmadi Falls in Mudigere, tourists ignored caution signs and entered the waterfall to bathe. The group left their clothes on the shore and proceeded to climb rocks in an off-limits area.

Chikmagalur division police officers, upon seeing the tourists, collected the abandoned clothes and walked away.

A video going viral on social media showed the men pleading with officers to return their clothes. After issuing a stern warning and providing safety instructions, the officers returned the clothes.

For the unversed, Karnataka has banned tourist entry to waterfalls since July 1 due to heightened safety risks during the rainy season.  Footage of the policemen walking away with the tourists' clothes has sparked a wave of amused reactions online. Many social media users applauded the officers for their innovative approach, with some suggesting that this method should be adopted more widely.
