Viral Video: Passenger Thrashed After He Tries To Open Emergency Door Mid-Air

Viral Video: A shocking incident unfolded on a Copa Airlines flight from Brazil to Panama when a passenger attempted to open emergency door mid-air, leing to a violent confrontation with fellow passengers.

incident occurred, about 30 minutes before landing, when man—armed with a plastic knife from his food tray rushed to back of plane. He tried to take a flight attendant host, allegedly with intention of opening emergency exit.

A video of chaotic scene, shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), shows passengers restraining man, while ar clip later shows authorities boarding aircraft and leing bloodied individual away in handcuffs.

Photojournalist Cristia Carvalho, who witnessed event, described tense moments as a flight attendant screamed for help. He explained that ar crew member tried to stop man but couldn't because of his strength. "He tried to open emergency door after igring warning," Carvalho said. "n he started moving toward front of plane, trying again."

Realizing danger, passengers quickly intervened. Although man was initially too strong for m to control, y eventually overpowered him and restrained him after a violent struggle. Carvalho said man was beaten so bly that he nearly lost consciousness.

Once plane landed in Panama, airline confirmed that national security team boarded and removed man, handing him over to local authorities.

Copa Airlines praised actions of crew and passengers, stating in a statement, " crew acted quickly, and with help of some passengers, applied necessary safety protocols to handle situation until we landed safely. Thanks to professionalism of our team, safety of flight and passengers was maintained."

This disturbing event follows ar incident earlier this week, when a man on a United Airlines flight in U.S. violently attacked a deaf, nverbal passenger while he was sleeping, leaving cabin covered in blood. suspect, identified as 44-year-old Everett Chal Nelson, faces assault charges in U.S. and could face up to a year in prison if convicted.
