New Delhi: Chhath Puja festivities began today, with several devotees seen taking a dip at Delhi's Kalindi Kunj Chhath Ghat, which was covered in toxic foam.

four-day festivities begin with "Nahay Khay" ritual, where devotees take a ritualistic bath and eat a simple meal. This is followed by "Kharna," during which devotees fast throughout day, breaking it only after sunset as an offering to deities.

celebrations will conclude on vember 8 and are widely observed in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand , Bihar , Madhya Pradesh , and West Bengal.
