As the US presidential elections approach, campaigns by both candidates are in full swing.
Recently, an Indian American entrepreneur and community leader released a campaign with an 'Indian touch' for the Indian-origin Democratic Party candidate, Kamala Harris.
The clip, inspired by the Oscar-winning track 'Naatu Naatu,' aims to garner support and energize the South Asian community to vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming elections with a strong message.
The 1.5-minute video, titled Hamari Ye Kamala Harris, features glimpses from Kamala Harris's campaign. It is the brainchild of Ajay Bhutoria, a member of the National Finance Committee for Harris's presidential campaign and captures Harris accepting her presidential nomination and receiving love from South Asian voters.
"'Nacho Nacho' isn't just a song; it's a movement," Bhutoria said. "This campaign aims to connect with the diverse South Asian American community across battleground states and key districts. With over 4.4 million Indian Americans and 6 million South Asians eligible to vote, our goal is to help propel Vice President Kamala Harris to victory in 2024."
Bhutoria urges voters to elect Kamala Harris as their president.
"In 2020, we made history by electing the first woman of South Asian and African American descent as Vice President. Now, in 2024, it's time to make her our next President," he added.
The song is produced by Ritesh Parikh and sung by Shibani Kashyap. It includes messages from community leaders in various languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Hindi.
Parikh, the founder of Awesome TV, said, "Bollywood has always been about breaking barriers and telling stories that unite us. Kamala Harris embodies that same vision—bringing people together and championing a future where diversity is our greatest strength. Her journey is a story we all believe in."
Bhutoria plans to release more Bollywood-inspired music videos to boost voter turnout for Harris and her vice-presidential candidate, Tim Walz.
"We will be producing more content to ensure South Asian voters are fully mobilized. In 2020, our Bollywood-based campaign videos went viral, and this year, we will make sure every South Asian vote counts," he said.
Kamala Harris will be the first woman to become the country’s president in the US's 248-year history if elected.
She was nominated as the Democratic nominee after US President Joe Biden had to step down from the presidential race.
