Gurugram: Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, who was out on food delivery, recently shared his experience on social media when he was denied entry at the Gurgaon Mall main entrance while delivering food. Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal took to his social media account to share his experience on how shopping malls and food delivery companies need to work closely to create a more humane environment for their food delivery partners and a seamless delivery experience for customers.
Zomato CEO Denied Entry at Mall
Deepinder Goyal shared his experience on his Instagram account, saying, ‘Here' what happened during the second order I delivered. We reached Ambience Mall in Gurugram to pickup the order from Haldiram's. We were told to take the other entrance and realised that they were asking me to take stairs. I went in again at the main entrance to make sure that there aren't any elevators for delivery partners. Took the stairs to the third floor to realise that we can't enter the mall and have to wait at the stairs to receive the orders.’
Goyal added, ‘Chilled with my fellow delivery partners while also getting valuable feedback from them. Was finally able to sneak in to collect the order when the staircase guard ‘took a small break’.’
Deepinder also shared a caption that reads, ‘During my second order, I realised that we need to work with malls more closely to improve working conditions for all delivery partners. And malls also need to be more humane to delivery partners. What do you think?’
Netizens React to Zomato CEO Delivery
Netizens reacted sharply to Deepinder Goyal's viral video talking about the ground realities of delivery and the disgraced conditions these delivery agents work in. One user says, ‘As I noted, not only is the mall, but they are also being treated like what you see in the video in the regular restaurant.’
Another viewer says, ‘It was a great idea to become a delivery partner for day one to experience their struggle. Now you know what is right and what is wrong. Hope you try your best to make their (delivery partners) life easier.’
One more user says, ‘Plz make sure that mall kai guards must behave properly with the delivery partner... Some of the restaurant guards are very rude; they push us while taking the order, even if we are getting the order delayed.’
The video of Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal is now going viral on social media, leaving many questions in mind on the rigorous working conditions of the food delivery agents and the VIP culture that still exists.
