11 Family Members Drown in Basement Flooding As Heavy Rain Lashes Pakistan's Kohat Region
Amidst heavy rains in Pakistan’s Kohat region, 11 members of a family were killed after a basement of a building suddenly flooded in the area on Tuesday.

Kohat: Amidst heavy rains in Pakistan’s Kohat region, at least 11 members of a family were killed after a basement of a building suddenly flooded in the area on Tuesday. Reports suggested that among those who died in the tragic incident were mostly women and children. The incident occurred in the Old Bazid Khel area of Dara Adam Khel after torrential rainfall hit the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region in Pakistan, according to reports.
The incident is similar to one, which occurred in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area, where as many as three UPSC aspirants were drowned after the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle flooded on Saturday due to the sudden bursting of a drain after heavy rain. This incident raised nationwide concerns regarding the risks students facing due to the irregularities, sparking massive protests into the regulation of coaching institutes across the country.

According to the reports, after the rainwater flooded the area in Pakistan’s Kohat, the family got trapped in the basement of Amjad's house leading to the death of all the 11 members. On information, the emergency team rushed to the spot and fished out 11 bodies from the water-filled basement.
Meanwhile, after the incident, the Governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim expressed condolences over the loss of lives.
As per the reports, heavy rains pouring down in Peshawar’s Swabi, and surrounding areas have been causing flooding and water logging in low-lying areas. The rains have damaged crops and disrupted electricity supply in Swabi.

On Monday, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that all rivers and streams in Punjab were flowing normally despite the ongoing monsoon rains. An official stated that water levels in dams and barrages remained stable.
