5 dead as small plane crashes in Mexico, investigation underway
A plane crash in the township of Madero in western Mexico claimed at least five lives on Oct 23 and the identities of the victims have not been revealed yet.

A plane crash in the community of Las Juntas in the township of Madero in western Mexico claimed lives of at least five people on October 23. Officials in Mexico’s western Mexican state of Michoacan said that it was a preliminary figure as there were six people on board. The identities of the victims of the crash have not been provided yet.

The flight was heading towards the southern state of Guerro
The flight, believed to be originated from the northern state of Durango, was headed towards the southern state of Guerro, said the Michoacan’s public safety agency.
“Personnel of the State Attorney General's Office travels to the vicinity of the community of Las Juntas, municipality of Madero, to carry out related actions in an aircraft accident recorded this afternoon with a preliminary data of 5 people killed,” tweeted the official account of the Attorney General of the State of Michoacán.

Wreckage found in a water body
The agency, performing the operational tasks in coordination with other departments, shared the images of the wreckage on social media. The wreckage can be seen upside down in a water body.

“We perform operational tasks in coordination with emergency bodies, after the fall of an aircraft with registration number XB-JZF, in the municipality of Madero; Six crew members were travelling, apparently from Durango to Guerrero,” tweeted the agency. The area is around 285 miles (460 kilometres) west of Mexico City.
