An earthquake of 6.4 magnitudes with strong tremors was reported to have struck the central Mindanao in the southern Philippines on October 16 according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The Earthquake was strongly felt by the people; hundreds rushed out of malls, offices and shut the power down. 

Philippines Earthquake 

A man was reported injured by a falling object during an earthquake, later he received medical assistance. The earthquake was centered around 7.7 kilometers from the main city of Columbio situated on Mindanao Island and was 14 kilometers underground. The USGS reported that the Earthquake stuck at 7:37 pm (1137 GMT). Renato Solidum, who is the chief seismologist of the Philippine government advised people to stay safe and check their houses of any damage. He further confirmed that since the earthquake convulsions occurred inland, there were no prior warnings for a tsunami. There were no reports of any serious destruction.

The Earthquake tremors strongest by far

The Philippines is located at the Pacific "Ring of Fire" which is defined as the region of intense seismic activity. The arc is stretched from Japan through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific basin. Many people also reported the Earthquake on Twitter and other social media accounts describing the earthquake tremors as strongest ever felt.

The earthquake jolted central California

 A 4.8 magnitude earthquake jolted central California on October 15. According to a US geological survey, the temblors occurred at 12:42 pm at a depth of 6 miles (9.6 kilometers). The epicenter was about 16 miles (25 kilometers) southeast of Hollister in a rugged mountainous region and agricultural areas to its west. The USGS citizen who reported to a webpage said that the tremors were felt in the communities around Monterey Bay situated north to the San Francisco region, south along the Central Coast and to the east in the Central Valley. The quake was originally reported as having a magnitude of 5, then 4.8, but has since been downgraded, according to USGS.
