Bengali Television actress Swastika Dutta has alleged that she was dragged an thrown out of her cab in Kolkata on Wednesday while she was on her way to the shoot. In a Facebook post, Dutta stated that her Uber driver canceled the ride mid-way and then threw her out of the car when she protested.
Narrating the horrific ordeal, the actress wrote, "This actually happened to Me, I was humiliated, I was literally thrown out of the car the reason was I had booked Uber service from my home to my studio (Dassani 2, Rania) exactly at 8.15 am, today, this guy named Jamshed, after picking me up from my location suddenly in the middle of the road cancelled the trip and asked me to get down from the car."

The actress also shared a photograph of the driver, his phone number and the number plate of the cab with the detailed account of the ordeal. Dutta stated that the incident took place in front of Dev Das Restaurant (EM Bypass) Uttar Panchana Gram (VIP Bazar)on Wednesday, "I was harassed and I am still in shock, this has never happened to me before," read an excerpt from her post.

After the actress' complaint, the Kolkata Police has registered a complaint against the accused and arrested him. The perpetrator has been identified at Jamshed. Meanwhile, as per reports, a spokesperson at Uber stated that the incident was 'deeply concerning'.

For the uninitiated, this is a second harassment incident from Kolkata that has surfaced within a month's time. Previously, Model-turned-actor Ushoshi Sengupta had alleged that she was chased and harassed by unidentified miscreants near the Jawaharlal Road crossing while returning home from work. Talking to Republic TV, Ushoshi said: "My Uber driver got into a clash with two boys on a motorcycle. In the beginning I thought it is just a road rage and it will get over. Me and my colleague were in the back seat and contemplating whether to react or not. Suddenly there were some 15 boys came out of nowhere and they tried to drag my driver out and started beating him up.
