The blast has come at a time when Afghanistan's presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 28 in which current President Ashraf Ghani is running for a second term. In October last year, US diplomats started peace talks with the Taliban in the country of Oman. This September, however, Taliban struck and killed an American soldier with 11 others. This resulted in Donald Trump declaring the talks as 'dead' which translated into Taliban increasing its attacks again in the Afghan war. Earlier this month, two Taliban suicide bombers massacred 48 people in what was seen as an attempt to disrupt the election process. Afghanistan has been a victim of many terror incidents in which a countless number of people have lost their lives.
