Afghan's woman governor Salima Mazari, who took up arms to fight Taliban, taken hostage

According to reports by Afghanistan media, Salima Mazari was taken hostage by the Taliban after her district Chahar Kint in Balkh fell to the militants.

One of Afghanistan's first and fiercest woman governors Salima Mazari, who h taken up arms to fight Taliban in Balkh province, has been captured. According to reports by Afghanistan media, Salima Mazari was taken hostage after her district Chahar Kint fell to Taliban. Her capture has been confirmed by Afghan TV journalist Nia Momand, who revealed that Mazari was captured after she refused to flee and stayed on to fight  Taliban infiltration.

Salima Mazari is a celebrated woman leer in Afghanistan. She is one of only three women governors in history of nation and is also famous for taking up arms and orchestrating military operations in Chahar Kint against Taliban. Reports have stated that until surrender of  Balkh province, Mazari fought fiercely against Taliban terrorists even as y gained control over entire nation. However, militants soon overtook larger Balkh province, and after fall of Kabul and exit of President Ashraf Ghani, Taliban insurgents managed to take her hostage.

H negotiated surrender of 100 Taliban terrorists

Even as Salima Mazari is taken hostage, it is important to mention that her district- Chahar Kint - was only region under control of a woman that did not fall under any of terror groups until very end. She managed to defend her province from Taliban given considerable experience she h over last few years in handling insurgency. According to Guardian, Salima Mazari h successfully negotiated  surrender of 100 Taliban fighters in 2020. 

40-year-old h told Gaurdian that her job was not only limited to tackling day-to-day affairs of bureaucracy but handling military operations. “Sometimes I’m in office in Charkint, and or times I have to pick up a gun and join battle,” she h said. “If we don’t fight now against extremist ideologies and groups that force m on us, we will lose our chance to defeat m. y will succeed. y will brainwash society into accepting ir agenda,” she ded.

Born in Iran, Mazari is a member of Hazara community which Taliban consider a heretical sect. Her whereabouts are unknown as of now.
