"Our Exposure tifications techlogy is available to public health ncies on both iOS and Android. What we’ve built is t an app—rar public health ncies will incorporate API into ir own apps that people install. Our techlogy is designed to make se apps work better. Each user gets to decide wher or t to opt-in to Exposure tifications; system does t collect or use location from device; and if a person is diagsed with COVID-19, it is up to m wher or t to report that in public health app," Google said in an anuncement made on its website.
Future developments
As per reports, both companies in coming months will work to enable a broader Bluetooth-based contact tracing platform by building this functionality into underlying platforms. This should be a more robust solution than an API and would allow more individuals to participate if y choose to opt-in, as well as enable interaction with a broader ecosystem of apps and government health authorities.
