Eight countries have signed Artemis Accords to establish a set of principles to guide space exploration cooperation in NASA’s lunar exploration plans.

Eight countries have signed Artemis Accords to establish a set of principles to guide exploration cooperation among nations participating in NASA’s lunar exploration plans. Artemis program of NASA is next step towards human exploration and a part of broer Moon to Mars exploration approach. Under program, NASA is working to land first woman and next man on Moon.

US ncy said on October 13 that international partnerships will play a key role in achieving a sustainable and robust presence on Moon later this dece while preparing to conduct a historic human mission to Mars. Australia, Cana, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, US, UK, and UAE have signed Artemis Accords.

“With today’s signing, we are uniting with our partners to explore Moon and are establishing vital principles that will create a safe, peaceful, and prosperous future in for all of humanity to enjoy,” said NASA ministrator Jim Bridenstine in a statement.

Principles of Artemis Accords

As per principles of Artemis Accords, all activities conducted under Artemis program must be for peaceful purposes and signatories are required to conduct ir activities in a transparent manner to avoid confusion and conflicts. y also commit to rendering assistance to personnel in distress and publicly release scientific information.

Artemis Accords signatories have pledged to preserve outer herit and utilise resources in compliance with Outer Treaty. eight countries have furr pledged to prevent harmful interference and plan for safe disposal of debris. NASA acting associate ministrator for international and interncy relations Mike Gold said in a statement that Artemis journey is to Moon, but destination of Accords is a peaceful and prosperous future.

“Fundamentally, Artemis Accords will help to avoid conflict in and on Earth by strengning mutual understanding and reducing misperceptions,” said Gold.
