Pro-Palestinian activists ambushed a Christmas community fundraiser held in Australia. The charity event was held for blind children.
As the world gets into the merry spirit to celebrate the holy festival of Christmas, Pro-Palestinian activists ambushed a Christmas community fundraiser held in Australia. The charity event was conducted to spread joy in the lives of blind children, however, pro-Palestine activists used the platform to raise anti-Israeli slogans. The event was conducted by Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight and had around 10,000 people in attendance when the incident took place, Fox News.
Disrupting the event, the pro-Palestinian protesters raised flags as they stomped across the stage and screamed about Gaza. They were soon dragged away by the security, however, they managed to leave the whole gathering in complete shock. "Well, it is the climate, isn't it?" a female host said after the protestors were escorted. "Well, it is the climate, isn't it?" a female host said after the activists were escorted away. "It's OK, everybody, we are actually fine here. … Everyone's allowed to have their … moment. … It's a very hard time in this world … There's a lot of pain out there that people are experiencing," another host exclaimed. The video of the whole ordeal went viral online.
Israeli activist hits back
Sharing the video of the whole ordeal, Israeli activist Hen Mazzig called it a “shameful act”. “This was at a Christmas Eve community fundraiser in Australia for blind children. It boggles the mind how so many co-opt Palestinian liberation to centre themselves and take away from other people in need,” Mazzig who is a Senior Fellow at Tel Aviv Institute, wrote on X, formally known as Twitter. “This behaviour will not “free Palestine”, it’s just shameful,” the Israeli activist added.
“Carols by Candlelight” is the largest annual fundraiser for Vision Australia's children's services. "All the proceeds from the event go to supporting services for families and children who are blind or low vision," the program's description said. "Your donations directly contribute to Vision Australia's children services and Life Ready Program. This program is designed to encourage and support childhood development and the education of children and young people who are blind or have low vision, like Lucy, so they can form strong foundations for life, true meaningful participation and lifelong employment," the Vision Australia website reads.
