Australia Today Calls Out Canada’s ‘Selective Blocking’, Accuses It of Allowing Anti-India Content
Bharadwaj alleged that despite the restrictions on The Australia Today, another news outlet known for its anti-India content remains fully accessible in Canada.

New Delhi: Jitarth Jai Bharwaj, managing editor of Australian diaspora news outlet Australia Today, reported on Monday that outlet’s Facebook and Instagram ps were blocked in Cana following posting of an interview with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar . Bharwaj described situation as a case of "selective blocking."
According to Bharwaj, Meta, company behind Facebook and Instagram, may have restricted access to Australia Today’s content due to recent Canian legislation limiting display of news on social media platforms. Bharwaj alleged that despite restrictions on Australia Today, ar news outlet kwn for its anti-India and pro-Khalistan content remains fully accessible in Cana.

In response to block, Bharwaj ted that Australia Today has yet to receive official communication from Meta explaining restrictions. However, he reiterated outlet’s mission to deliver “diverse Australian multicultural stories and global Indian Diaspora perspectives” to its audience, undeterred by setback.
“We look forward to continued engment with our Canian audience, albeit through or accessible channels beyond Meta’s platforms. We hope that all stakeholders can work towards ensuring that important news content is accessible to everyone without barriers," Bharwaj said.

Earlier last week, Australia Today claimed that Cana h blocked outlet’s social media ps shortly after it hosted a press conference with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and S. Jaishankar, and conducted a separate interview with latter.
On vember 8, Bharwaj also shared a screenshot on X, showing a warning mess on Australia Today’s Facebook p that re: “People in Cana can’t see this content."
