Scientists in Australia have revealed in a study that Great Barrier Reef has suffered one of most extensive coral bleaching events in March raising concerns as reefs recovered less each time after process. This would be third extensive bleaching in over last five years. Director of ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University, Terry Hughes, said that February 2020 was hottest month on record in Great Barrier Reef since records began in 1900, as per a news ncy report.

In what could be said record-breaking temperatures, in 2020, all along length of Great Barrier Reef re wasn't a cool portion in rth, or a cool portion in south this time around, Hughes reportedly said. whole Barrier Reef recorded temperatures so hot that bleaching phemen intensified to maximum this year, he added. impact being, coral reefs would t recover same way it did five years ago due to dam, or more alarmingly its recovery rate about thirty years ago, Hughes was quoted as saying. If bleaching didn’t stop, Hughes reportedly said,  Great Barrier Reef will be completely destroyed.

'Cloud brightening' experiment

Earlier, last month, Scientists carried out a "cloud brightening" experiment in an early-st trial on Great Barrier Reef, which could become a futuristic way to protect world's largest reef against global warming, as per reports. warmer seas, as per scientists, damd health of corals and climate crisis threatened its existence.

In a rare experiment, scientists dispersed tiny salt crystals obtained from oceans into atmosphere through boat-mounted canns. crystals n blended with low-lying clouds that reflected sunlight away from oceans, thus leading to a drastic reduction of temperature in seawater below, according to reports. With experiment, researchers aimed to narrow bleaching stress by at least 70 per cent.

lead scientist on project, Daniel Harrison from Sourn Cross University, was quoted as saying that trials were “really, really encouraging”. He furr added it was first of its kind to implement technique to enhance health of coral reefs.
