Bangladeshi Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been in a legal tangle, facing over 100 lawsuits filed by the disgruntled employees of Grameen Telecom (GT)

Bangleshi bel laureate Muhamm Yunus has been in a legal tangle facing over 100 lawsuits filed by disgruntled employees of Grameen Telecom (GT). According to media reports, telecoms unit of Grameen bank was bound to share five percent of company’s profit with workers but for last 10 years, GT has allegedly t shared profits.
Bangleshi ecomist has been facing several legal issues for past years. In October last year, an arrest warrant was issued against Yunus after he failed to appear in court for hearing in a case over sacking of employees from a company heed by him. Three employees of Grameen Communications (GC) were sacked for allegedly trying to set up a tre union.

At loggerhes with Sheikh Hasina
Yunus has been at loggerhes with Bangleshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since 2007 after he expressed desire to enter politics. In 2011, Yunus was sacked as he of Grameen Bank citing a review of Grameen Bank activities. Yunus supporters allege that Sheikh Hasina orchestrated whole thing to oust him.

Yunus launched collateral-free microcredit scheme for rural entrepreneurs of Banglesh through Grameen Bank which was founded by him in 1983. In 2006, he received bel Peace Prize for his efforts to empower rural entrepreneurs. rwegian bel Committee jointly awarded bel Peace Prize to Yunus and Grameen Bank “for ir efforts to create ecomic and social development from below.”

Yunus has received several awards and accoles for his ideas and actions. Apart from bel Peace Prize, Yunus has been houred with lndependence Day Award (Banglesh’s highest award), Franklin D Roosevelt Freedom Award, Seoul Peace Prize and Nikkei Asia Prize for Regional Growth among ors. rwegian bel Institute h said that Yunus “sought to realise his vision of self-support for very poorest people by means of loans on easy terms”.
