Beirut explosion: Burj Khalifa lights up in solidarity with people of Lebanon

In the aftermath of the explosion, major downtown streets were reportedly seen littered with debris, damaged vehicles and building facades.

A colossal explosion rocked Lebanese capital Beirut on Aug 4 killing over 100 and injuring over four thousand people. In aftermath of explosion, major downtown streets were reportedly seen littered with debris, damd vehicles and building faces. Photographs of destruction soon started circulating online.

t only people and world leers took to social media to offer condolences to those affected but also offered material help. list was joined by  Dubai’s iconic building Burj Khalifa whose twitter handle posted a photograph of skyscraper lit in solidarity. photograph showed building lit up showcasing flag of Leban. In caption, which was written both in Arabic English, handle wrote that building h lit up in “solidarity with brors and sisters” in Leban.

Beirut blast: 100 killed, 4000 injured

A colossal explosion rocked Lebanese capital Beirut on Aug 4 killing over 100 and injuring over four thousand people. An investigation to find exact trigger of explosion is underway, however, officials are blaming tons of ammonium nitrate stored inside safe house for destruction. Recently, country’s Prime minister Hassan Diab revealed that‘ dangerous warehouse, which exploded stored 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate for past 6 years.

However, he said that he would t like to ‘pre-empt investigation.’ Calling it a catastrophe, he demanded strictest punishment for those responsible. President Michel Aoun also condemned “unacceptable” stor of dangerous material, declaring a three day mourning period in country. In dition, he has also anunced a release of 100 billion Lira of emergency funds to tackle devastation. In aftermath of explosion, Country’s Defense Council has said that those responsible would be face maximum punishment.
