In a big development regarding eight serial blasts which occurred in Sri Lanka on Sunday, initial probe reports have suggested that terrorist attack was in retaliation to shootings on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on March 18, 2019.

This news was confirmed by Sri Lanka's Deputy Defence Minister, as reported by AFP.

On Sunday, six near-simultaneous attacks on three churches and three luxury hotels h occurred killing more than 300 people and injuring more than 500. Following se bomb attacks, two more explosions h taken place later on same day.

Post se dely attacks which involved suicide bombers, Sri Lankan police h arrested 40 suspects related to planning of se attacks while declaring a national emergency throughout country. Moments after declaration, police h found 87 bomb detonators in Colombo's Central bus stand on Monday.

On Tuesday, which President Maithripala Sirisena declared a day of mourning, Sri Lankan authorities planned to brief foreign diplomats and receive assistance from FBI and or foreign intelligence-garing ncies after officials disclosed Monday that warnings h been received weeks ago of possibility of an attack by rical group blamed for bloodshed.

On March 18, gunman Brenton Tarrant h live-streamed shooting to Facebook, using a he-mounted camera when he first entered Al or mosque, in central Christchurch where he started firing indiscriminately at men, women and children inside mosque. total number of victims was 42 in first shooting, as per media reports.

After that, he h driven to Linwood Mosque in East Christchurch, where he shot at windows and entered mosque. A local, Abdul Aziz, h chased gunman using a shotgun, which me him drop his gun and run away.

Police on responding to an emergency call h apprehended suspect, 21 minutes later. total death count was 50, according to BBC.
