Bolsonaro supporters promote Trump's candidacy

American elections are being closely watched in Brazil, where President Trump is popular amongst supporters of Jair Bolsonaro, President of Latin America's largest country, who see the U.S. president's reelection as a reflection of support for their own leader.

American elections are being closely watched in Brazil, where President Trump is popular amongst supporters of Jair Bolsonaro, President of Latin America's largest country, who see U.S. president's reelection as a reflection of support for ir own leer.

Edson Delena, a 56-year-old businessman based in Coconut Creek, Florida, has been living in US for 30 years.

He paid for two Trump billboards in Brazilian city of Governor Valares in his home state of Minas, where his family still lives.

He said he decided to do that in order to show his affection for Trump and because, according to him, many of people in Governor Valares have relatives and family living in USA, and he thought it would be a way to reach people living in US so y could vote for Trump.

"I think people from Valares can increase his votes. Many friends (from Valares, living in US) are calling me and asking how y can vote for Donald Trump," Delena said in a video interview with AP from his home in US.

At a rally for right-wing supporters of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on outskirts of Sao Paulo, supporters expressed miration for Trump, and hope he wins elections on vember 3.

"I believe re is a strong connection between Brazil and United States; Bolsonaro's government has an ideological alignment closer to Trump," said Sao Paulo State Deputy, Oscar Castello Branco during a congress meeting where Bolsonaro supporters looked to expand ir base.

US elections will resonate far beyond American borders, and many Brazilians think outcome will indicate how ir own elected officials will fare when y face elections in ir own country.
