Brazil braces as mysterious oil spill is nearing the coral reef system

The Brazilian Navy on October 29, stated that it is gearing up to tackle any possibility of the crude oil spill reaching the country's biggest coral reef system

Brazilian Navy, on October 29 stated that it is gearing up to tackle any possibility of crude oil spill reaching country's biggest coral reef systems. statement came after public criticism that blamed  government of inaction. miral Leonardo Puntel said that three Naval ships were alrey in areas of coral reefs with an dition of two more ships that will happen as soon as possible. He also ded that helicopters will be flying over reef sites and assessing situation at hand.

A critical time for Brazil

Puntel said that helicopters will be flying around to locate any heavy amount of crude oil and if it is detected coming towards coral reefs, divers will be sent to retrieve heavy masses before y can cause any dam to protected areas.

Although miral Puntel furr ded that crude oil flows beneath ocean's surface, only getting ticed as it comes near coastline, making it a very difficult job for satellites or helicopters to track such an incident. He also said that Navy will t be able to predict course of crude oil and which area it will hit next or for how long will it pollute beaches in Brazil.

According to reports, oil spill was spotted on coastline in rastern part of Brazil on September 2.  spill has led to contamination of 254 beaches, mangroves, and estuaries in a total of nine states.

In a press conference, environmental experts and a few politicians berated Brazil's government in relation to ir response to oil spill, stating that government did t do eugh as it was initially to slow in its actions.

"Government did t take action at right time"

While talking to an international media outlet, scientist Carlos bre, stated that Brazilian government shut down numerous committees and organizations that work in accordance with ministries to formulate public policies. He furr ded that one of committees that were shut down, h come up with a response plan for oil spills at Brazil's coastline, an error that came to light after crude oil spills contaminated beaches.

Carlos also talked about first time oil reached beaches in rastern part of Brazil, re was committee to tackle problem even though concerned authorities h necessary resources and could have taken action to prevent this environmental disaster but y were t re and it was a complete mess. 

In response to this, Brazil's Defense Minister, Fernando Azevedo e Silva, declined allegations of any wrongdoings on government's part and stated that government took necessary actions as soon as oil spills were ticed.
