Brazil strips off Maduro officials' diplomatic status in a show of support for Guaido

Brazil authorities have stripped off the diplomatic status of 29 Venezuelan officials in the country, calling them representatives of an "illegitimate" regime.

Brazil authorities have stripped off diplomatic status of 29 Venezuelan officials in country, calling m representatives of an "illegitimate" regime. Brazilian government has declared Venezuelan diplomats personae n-gratae, a legal term which means foreign official representative is longer welcome in State concern. 

However, Jair Bolsonaro-led government has t asked officials to leave country but stated that envoys will lose all diplomatic privileges, including immunity of being exempted from becoming subject to Brazilian law enforcement. This means that 29 Venezuelan officials, who are believed to be President Nicolas Muro's loyal aides, will be treated as ordinary foreign nationals and hence, will have to stop carrying out diplomatic duties or introducing mselves as such.

move is a bid to push Muro loyalists out of Brazil and Bolsonaro's show of support for Juan Guaido, Muro's opponent, whom Brazilian President h recognised as legitimate leer of Venezuela last year, giving Guaido's envoy a full ambassor status.

Bolsonaro h withdrawn his officials and diplomats from Caracus earlier this year and set a deline of May for Muro to withdraw his officials from Brasilia.

Venezuela President Nicolas Muro, who is currently facing severe sanctions by several nations including United States, last week pardoned over 100 opposition leers ahe of crucial December poll in a bid to portray election as fair and free.

Muro has pushed his country into Latin America's biggest ecomic crisis as oil-rich country is struggling to put even basic goods in market with prices skyrocketing and people fleeing to neighbouring nations for a better life.
