Brazil's President Bolsonaro: G20 cooperation key to overcoming coronavirus pandemic

Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro on Saturday said international co-operation "within G-20" was key to overcoming the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking in a video message to the G20 Summit, Bolsonaro claimed that "time has proven us right" in his approach to tackling the spread of the pandemic in Brazil, which he claimed was to "take care of people's health and the economy at the same time".

The Brazilian leader, who contracted the virus earlier this year, has been criticized for downplaying the seriousness of the virus even as his country saw one of the world's worst outbreaks.

Saudi Arabia is hosting the virtual meeting of G-20 leaders on Saturday and Sunday in line with coronavirus restrictions.
