Taking to X, the Democratic leader Kamala Harris wrote, "Today, I signed the forms officially declaring my candidacy for President of the United States. I will work hard to earn every vote. And in November, our people-powered campaign will win(sic)."
This comes days after US President Joe Biden dropped out the highly-anticipated Presidential elections and endorsed her calling her ‘tough’ to take on the challenges.

Obamas Endorse Harris
The November 5 US elections will see VP Harris as the Democratic nominee, following Biden's endorsement. Earlier on Friday, former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama publicly endorsed Harris for the US presidential post, putting an end to any lingering doubts. The endorsement, delivered through a video message where Harris is seen accepting a joint phone call from the Obamas, provides a big boost for the Vice President. Obama said he and former US First Lady Michelle Obama will do everything they can to make sure Harris wins the presidential election in November.
In a post on X, Barack Obama said, "Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she'll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we're going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you'll join us."

Kamala Harris, who has known the Obamas since before his election in 2008, thanked them for their friendship and said she looks forward to “getting there, being on the road” with them in the three-month blitz before Election Day on Nov. 5.
“We're gonna have some fun with this too, aren't we?” Harris said.

It also highlights the friendship and potentially historic link between the nation's first Black president and the first woman, first Black woman and first person of Asian descent to serve as vice president, who is now vying to break those same barriers at the presidential rank.
'She's Tough:' Biden Backs Kamala
While addressing the nation from the Oval Office earlier this week, President Biden disclosed why he chose to drop out of the White House race and thanked Harris, calling her a "great vice president."
"She's experienced. She's tough, and she's capable. She's been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country. Now the choice is up to you, the American people," Biden said.
