Canada fails to secure UN Security Council seat, loses to Ireland and Norway
Despite a heavily invested campaign by President Justin Trudeau, Canada has failed to secure a seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Despite a heavily invested campaign by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Cana has failed to secure a seat in United Nations Security Council (UNSC), international media reported. UNSC is a 15 member body, with 10 seats for n-permanent members. Out of total ten, Cana has lost out to rway and Ireland for two ‘western bloc ‘seats.
While rway secured 130 votes and Ireland grabbed 128, Cana mand to secure only 108 votes. Meanwhile, India and Mexico secured n-permanent seats upposed. 10 n-permanent members are elected for a period of two years and term for newly elected members is scheduled to start on January 1, 2021.

According to reports, Trudeau h invested heavily in his star-studded campaigns. Candian leer h employed 13 full-time members of staff for campaign. In dendum, he h also invited UN diplomas to Celine Dion campaign in New York. On or hand, Ireland has also used a U2 concert for purpose and gave UN diplomats free tickets for rockband cancer. In monetary terms, while Cana has spent a $1.74M, Ireland h shelled out $800,000 and rway 2.8 million.

UNSC is orned with responsibility to maintain international peace and security in accordance with principles and purposes of United Nations. Security Council responds to crises around world on a case-by-case basis and it has a range of options at its disposal. Five permanent members are council are China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and United States.

India secures n-permanent seat
Meanwhile, India has been elected as a n-permanent member for eighth-time after voting concluded at UN hequarters in New York City on June 17. India was only country from Asia-Pacific Group and won election upposed.
