Canadian Govt, along with Alberta, is set to launch a pilot programme that aims to cut down quarantine time for international travellers by testing for COVID-19

Canian government along with Alberta is set to launch a pilot programme that aims to cut down quarantine time for international travellers by testing m for COVID-19 at point of entry, Department of Intergovernmental Affairs said in a statement.

"A joint pilot programme from Government of Alberta and Government of Cana - first of its kind in country - will safely test an alternative to current 14-day quarantine requirement for international travellers while continuing to protect Canians from COVID-19," statement said on Thursday.

Joint programme will commence on vember 2 and all international travellers entering Cana at Coutts land border crossing between Sweet Grass, Coutts and Montana, Alberta and Calgary International Airport will receive a COVID-19 test upon entry. traveller will be allowed to leave quarantine if results come back negative. new regime will be conditional upon a second negative test six or seven days after arrival, statement re.

Cana extends COVID travel restrictions

Last month on September 30, Cana's Public Safety Minister Bill Blair h extended existing restriction on n-U.S. international travel until October 31, 2020. As per reports, new order anunced by Blair on his Twitter handle does t apply to some US nationals, temporary foreign workers, or select individuals which including diplomats and flight crews. 

During this period Cana Public Health Services h also released a statement in its website and stated that "to limit spre of COVID-19, travellers entering Cana must follow rules set out by emergency orders under Quarantine Act. one should travel when sick". Canians, persons with status under Indian Act and permanent residents who have COVID-19 symptoms are allowed to return to Cana, statement ded. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in mid-March h anunced that government is halting entry of most foreign citizens into Cana amid spre of Coronavirus.

COVID-19 cases in Cana

On Thursday, Cana has reported its highest number of COVID-19 cases in a single day. According to reports Cana recorded 2,786 new cases on Thursday that broke  previous record of 2,698 cases, which was set on Oct. 17. This is also first time country surpassed May 3 tally of 2,760 cases.
