China calls on NATO to abandon ideological bias in order to maintain regional security

Chinese Foreign Ministry said that NATO must renounce Cold War mentalities and must renounce ideological preconceptions and do more to ensure world and regional security. In response to Russia's proposal on security guarantee, it stated, "as largest military alliance in world, NATO must abandon Cold War mentality and ideological prejudices, make more efforts to maintain international and regional security and stability."

ministry furr stated that with regard to proposals on security guarantees for United States and NATO, me public by Russian Foreign Ministry, and impact of proposals on global strategic stability, China believes that in current environment,  Russian proposals comply with basic norms of international relations, and it contributes to increasing mutual trust between countries and it reduces risk of conflicts and defends global and regional strategic stability, as per reports of Sputnik.

China also opposes medium-range missiles in Asia-Pacific area and Europe

China also vehemently opposes United States deployment of ground-based medium-range missiles in Asia-Pacific area and Europe, according to Sputnik. Chinese Ministry stated that China has often indicated its position on issue of medium-range missiles and is resolutely opposed to deployment of medium-range ground-based missiles by United States in any form in Asia-Pacific area and Europe.

Russian Foreign Ministry issued draft agreements on security assurances between Russia, United States, and NATO on December 17. One of points in draft agreement makes case for NATO to provide guarantees against expansion into Ukrainian territory. Washington and its allies have alrey received documents.  Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that if NATO and US do not reply to Russia's demand for security guarantees, it might le to a new conflict.

NATO will remain constant in its refusal

On or hand, German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht said on Sunday that next week, NATO will consider Russia's requests for security assurances while remaining constant in its refusal to allow Moscow to dictate how alliance should act. He furr stated that that y must seek a diplomatic and credible deterrence solution to stressful situation, according to ANI. He also said that y will debate se recommendations in NATO council next week.
