While speaking to CNN, several climate activists raised questions over Beijing's green narrative and ded upcoming Olympics would cost nature tremendously. "For deces, Songshan National Nature Reserve provided a sanctuary to many protected animal and plant species, including golden eagle and rare orchids. Under Chinese law, nobody is allowed to enter reserve's core area, except for scientific research with government approval," CNN quoted a climate activist who is aware of Chinese building.

"This is really a great pity, because ( original core zone) is one of very few places in norrn Beijing that has alpine meows. Such a unique ecosystem was why it was included in original nature reserve in first place," said a Chinese ecological expert, who asked not to be named for fear of repercussions.
