China hopes Biden will end Trump’s Cold War, follow sensible approach to restore ties
The Trump administration launched a broadside against China on all fronts, including trade, Tibet and Taiwan besides, scathing criticism against the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) headed by President Xi Jinping.

As Joe Biden is set to assume power this month, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday hoped that US President-elect would end incumbent Donald Trump’s “Cold War” policy towards Beijing and return to a “sensible approach” by restoring rmal ties. Trump ministration launched a broside against China on all fronts, including tre, Tibet and Taiwan besides, scathing criticism against ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) heed by President Xi Jinping.
Chinese side hopes that next US ministration will return to a sensible approach, resume dialogue with China, restore rmalcy to bilateral relations and restart cooperation, Wang, who is also a State Councillor, told state-run Xinhua news ncy in an interview.

"China-US relations have come to a new crossros, and a new window of hope is opening," he said. Biden, who defeated President Trump in vember 8 Presidential election, is scheduled to take over on January 20, formally ending Trump era which saw US-China ties touch a new low.
Wang said that in recent years, US-China relations have run into unprecedented difficulties. Fundamentally, it all comes down to serious misconceptions of US policymakers about China. Some see China as so-called biggest threat and ir China policy based on this misperception is simply wrong, he said.

"What has happened proves that US’ attempt to suppress China and start a new Cold War has t just seriously harmed interests of two peoples, but also caused severe disruptions to world. Such a policy will find support and is doomed to fail.
"We are rey to develop with United States a relationship based on coordination, cooperation and stability. We kw that some in US are uneasy about China's rapid development. However, best way to keep one's le is through constant self-improvement, t by blocking ors' development," he said.

"We believe that as long as United States can draw lessons from past and work with China in same direction, two countries are capable of resolving differences through dialogue and expanding converging interests by cooperation," Wang said. He also stuck a positive te on China’s ties with European Union (EU).China is racing to improve its ties with EU ahe of Biden’s plans to end Trump’s unilateral approach and work out coordinated policies towards China with all US allies, especially EU.
Seen as an attempt to thwart Biden’s plans to forge a united policy towards Beijing, China concluded talks with EU on a landmark investment treaty ending a long, drawn-out negotiations. On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron anunced that y have completed investment agreement negotiations as scheduled.

" agreement will provide greater market access, higher level of business environment, stronger institutional guarantees and brighter cooperation prospects for mutual investment," Xi said.US Deputy National Security visor Matw Pottinger blasted EU for reaching deal with China despite Beijing’s “human rights record”.
EU has "removed a fig leaf," Pottinger said, China’s state-run Global Times reported. White House Tre viser Peter Navarro also called it "a b deal," which will pose a geopolitical challenge to US.Wang, in his interview, said that " most important conclusion is that our cooperation and common understandings far outweigh competition and differences. China and EU are comprehensive strategic partners, t systemic rivals," he said.

Wang also hailed China’s burgeoning ties with Russia, which Chinese experts say could get stronger if Biden pursues former US president Barack Obama’s policy of identifying Moscow as a prime enemy of Washington than Beijing. China and Russia will continue to be example of good-neighbourly and friendly relations between major countries, which would underpin global strategic stability, Wang said.
He hailed intensive interactions between two hes of states, ting that President Xi and President Vlimir Putin have h five phone calls and exchanged correspondence on multiple occasions, providing most important strategic guidance for stey growth of bilateral relations.
" year 2021 is a year of special importance for China-Russia relations, as both countries will enter a new development st. In developing China-Russia strategic cooperation, we see limit, forbidden zone and ceiling to how far this cooperation can go," he said.
