China hopes Vietnam does not 'complicate' South China Sea issue as Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said that Vietnam could explore legal action.

After a senior Vietnamese official said that y could explore legal action around its territorial dispute in South China Sea, China called on Vietnam on vember 8 to “complicate” issue. two countries have been in a tug of war over an exclusive ecomic zone (EEZ) in international waters of Vietnam which even China claims. China in July sent a ship for a months-long seismic survey to area which furr aggravated tensions between countries. Deputy foreign minister Le Hoai Trung said that Vietnam preferred negotiations but did have or options for disputed waterway, including arbitration and litigation.

'Vietnam should face historical reality': Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman

Responding to Vietnamese minister's comments, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said that Vietnam was at core of South China Sea problem and or claimants inving and occupying Chinese islands. Geng Shuang furr said that Vietnam should face historical reality and abide by high-level consensus reached by both countries. foreign minister that both countries should resolve issue by dialogue and consultations and avoid taking action that may le to complications. This might disturb broer picture of peace and stability in South China Sea and bilateral relations, he ded.

China claims entire South China sea despite ICJ verdict against it

entire South China Sea is claimed by China along with Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam who surround it. China by w has set military outposts on energy-rich waters making artificial islands. International Court of Justice invalidated China’s claim over most of waters following a 2013 case filed by Manila in 2016. Yet China did t pay heed to verdict. Vietnam is yet to speak on wher to plan to file any lawsuit.
