China imposes new visa restrictions affecting US media amid soaring tensions
Amid soaring tensions between the US and China, Chinese authorities has imposed new visa restrictions on foreign journalists working for American organisations.

Amid soaring tensions between US and China with both nations targeting each or’s media organisations, Beijing has imposed new visa restrictions on foreign journalists working for American organisations. According to reports, in last week, during routine renewal of ir press credentials, that are traditionally valid for a year, numerous journalists received a letter saying that ir applications were being processed. Instead of receiving new press card, journalists were advised to carry letter along with ir expired card as proof of ir journalistic identity.
However, since Chinese visas are connected to press cards of journalists, y were issued a new visa which is valid only for nearly two months. A time span significantly less than that of 12 months. Chinese authorities have reportedly also made it evident that se temporary press credentials can be revoked at any instance. This has furr impacted journalists, mostly American, who are stuck in a limbo of t kwing how long y would remain in country.

China adds drones, laser tech to restricted export list
Meanwhile, China had recently responded to US ban on Chinese firms by adding several high-tech machines such as drones and lasers among nearly two dozen techlogies to its restricted export list. Chinese Ministry of Commerce on August 28 had anunced update of adding at least 23 areas of invation including engineering, 3D printing, encryption and large-scale high-speed wind tunnel design to list.
According to ANI, Chinese government saying that ‘main purpose’ of increasing restrictions is to regulate techlogy exports while promoting scientific and techlogical progress, ecomic and techlogical cooperation, and maintaining national ecomic security. chief ecomist for Greater China from ING Wholesale Banking, Iris Pang was also quoted by Chinese state media saying that list was response for ‘ US ban on Chinese tech companies’.
