China Lodges Protests With US for Blocking Investments in China's Advanced Technology

China said on Tuesday that it has lodged a protest with the United States over its decision to block U.S. investors from helping China develop advanced military technology.

China said on Tuesday that it has lodged a protest with United States over its decision to block U.S. investors from helping China develop vanced military techlogy.

U.S. Treasury Department, seeking to keep Chinese military from gaining an edge in vanced techlogies, issued a rule Monday to restrict and monitor American investments in China in artificial intelligence, computer chips and quantum computing.

finalized rule arises from an executive order issued in August 2023 by President Joe Biden .

Lin restated country’s opposition to military interaction between U.S. and Taiwan when asked about an agreement under which Taiwan would purchase 1,000 attack drones from U.S. companies AeroVironment and Anduril Industries.

Lin denied authority of defense ministry of Taiwan and said two American companies were sanctioned by China.

Separately, Lin reiterated China’s call for “de-escalation” and “a political resolution” on conflict in Ukraine following reports that rth Korea’s foreign minister is visiting Russia.

rth Korea’s official Korean Central News ncy said a delegation led by Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui departed for Russia on Monday, but didn’t specify purpose of visit.

This is ar sign of deepening relations between two countries as rival South Korea and Western nations say rth has sent thousands of troops to support Russia’s war in Ukraine.
