A minor earthquake of 5.5 magnitudes was reported in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday afternoon. However, immediately after the quake hit the north-eastern region of India, China tried to play its dirty tricks and needled India over the quake, by changing the name of the Arunachal Pradesh's region where the quake was felt. While the epicentre of the earthquake was Arunachal Pradesh's Bomdila area, China claimed that it was hit in Shannan, which is in Tibet.
Taking to Twitter, the Chinese media quoted the China Earthquake Networks Center and claimed that a magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit the Cona County in "Shannan" in Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Significantly, China has internally renamed many places of Arunachal Pradesh, including Tawang, Bomdila and Itanagar. It has renamed Bomdila Shannan as a part of its claim that Arunachal Pradesh is a part of Tibet region Here are some of the places which were remained by China in April 2017 - Wo'gyainling, Mila Ri, Qoidengarbo Ri, Mainquka, Bumo La and Namkapub Ri. These places are believed to be located along the Line of Actual Control ( LAC)
- Wo’gyainling refers to the Urgyenling monastery, near Tawang town, which is the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama in Tawang district
- Qoidêngarbo Ri, which translates to White Stupa Mountain was for Choten Karpo Ri.
- Mainquka was for Menchuka and Bümo La is likely to be Bumla, located a short distance from Tawang.
Earlier in May 2019, it had destroyed 30,000 world maps after they did not mention that Arunachal Pradesh and Taiwan were part of Chinese territory, the official media had reported.

As per a report by news agency PTI, the two countries have had as many as 21 rounds of talks in an attempt to resolve the border dispute covering 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, repeating its dirty tricks, China has also been claiming the estranged island of Taiwan as part of its territory that must be reunified with the mainland, even by force.
