China has called for more physical fitness classes in schools across nation in order to make young men more masculine or 'manly'. However, latest call by government has triggered a backlash from critics who said that move could result in domestic violence along with or social issues. According to Ministry of Education’s plan reportedly anunced on Thursday, local governments and educational institutes will soon be required to increase number of gymnasium teachers and elevate teaching methods to “cultivate masculinity”.
As per South China Morning Post report, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s government’s latest initiative aims at improving school-going boys to develop both mental and physical health while educational ministry enhances its research. call to action is reportedly a response to top political adviser Si Zefu who suggested that Chian needed to tackle surging level of “feminisation” of young men and described m as “delicate, cowardly and effeminate”.

Reportedly, in a document, Si said that nation needed to “prevent young men from becoming effeminate” and even blamed women in ir families for apparently spoiling m. China’s top political adviser called for more male teachers to “combat issue” while voicing concern over “threat to development and survival of our nation”. Educational ministry backed proposal but it furr prompted an immediate backlash from and sexuality experts.

Weibo users question new plan
Reportedly, users of Chinese microblogging website, Weibo reportedly flooded platform with criticism against education ministry’s plan. While one user questioned how ‘feminine’ is a ‘bad word’, ar said that “re’s one way to make men more masculine: make fars raise ir children, make m work full-time at home.” Furrmore, media report quoted a staff member from Guangzhou-based LGBT NGO who chose to remain anymous, saying that ministry’s proposal is encouraging mess that ‘being feminine is bad’.
He reportedly said, “Worrying that boys are t ‘masculine’ eugh is discrimination against female expression”. However, according to him, government should care more about mental health of young people of nation which is “far more meaningful”.
