Chinese and Malaysian manufacturers make 'energy bus' for ASEAN market

Chinese manufacturing company, Zhongtong Bus Holding Co., Ltd. and its Malaysian counterpart, Terus Maju Services(TMS) have inked an agreement to build new energy buses for the ASEAN(Association of Southeast Asian Nation) Markets. The agreement between both the manufacturing companies was signed on November 12 and would see both of them together manufacture buses for the domestic Malaysian market and other ASEAN markets such as Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

An effort to save the environment

A senior manager at Zhongtong Bus Holding Co, Ltd., Li Jiliu, handing overseas marketing, stated that his company will be assisting its Malaysian counterpart by providing the most advanced technology and parts that will, in turn, contribute to the development of the Malaysian public transport system.

Terus Maju Services director, Loo Kok Seong, stated that he was happy with the Shandong Province based Chinese manufacturer during an initial visit that quickly prompted a second visit and the initial testing of the products that were offered.

Seong further added that their main priority was working towards alternatives sources of energy in the automotive industry and a move towards the development of green technologies. He also said that the company would launch new technology and accessories for the Chinese-manufactured electric buses.

'New Energy' buses

According to reports, Malaysia's Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, hoped that the recent development that would witness the transfer of technology from China to Malaysia will result in improved quality, safety, and reliability of the 'new energy' buses. He also praised China as one of the countries in using and applying alternative sources of energy, adding that such a thing will provide a boost for the Malaysian counterpart.

According to reports, Capital fo Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region, Lhasa, is planning to add 110 'new energy' buses, that will expand the green bus fleet to more than 80% in the city. Lhasa already has more than 500 buses plying on the roads that include 310 new energy buses. The engine of the new energy buses will be using the lean-burn technology, a technology referring to the burning of fuel with an excess of air in an internal combustion engine.
