Chinese Grand Prix postponed by organisers amidst Coronavirus fears

In a statement, the FIA said that the race has been postponed due to health concerns. The race was originally scheduled to take place on April 19

 Federation Internationale of Automobile (FIA) on Wednesday anunced that Chinese Grand Prix will be postponed due to coronavirus. anuncement took place after weeks of deliberation over subject. race was scheduled to take place on April 19.

Chinese GP postponed

In a statement, FIA said that decision was me after a request was jointly me by Chinese Grand Prix Promoter, Juss Sports Group, Shanghai ministration of Sports and  Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of People's Republic of China. "As a result of continued health concerns and with World Health Organisation declaring coronavirus as a global health emergency, FIA and Formula 1 have taken se measures in order to ensure health and safety of travelling staff, championship participants and fans, which remains of primary concern," it ded.

Coronavirus has claimed more than 1100 in China alone with more than 44,000 people w infected in country. Amidst growing crisis, WHO has repeatedly stated that it stands by China for its efforts to tackle crisis. Director-General of WHO, Dr Tedros ham Ghebreyesus recently stated, "Let me be clear: this declaration is t a vote of confidence in China. On contrary, WHO continues to have confidence in China’s capacity to control outbreak..To people of China & to all of those around world who have been affected by this outbreak, we want you to kw that world stands with you.

In order to tackle spreing virus,  WHO stated that international community has launched a USD 675 million preparedness and response plan covering months of February through to April 2020. United States has " Chinese Grand Prix has always been a very important part of F1 calendar and fans are always incredible," Formula 1 said in a statement. "We all look forward to racing in China as soon as possible and wish everyone in country best during this difficult time."
