The Chinese media on October 25, claimed that Britain and other European countries must accept some responsibility for the deaths of 39 people that are believed to be Chinese nationals and were found dead in a refrigerated truck near London. The international media claims that at the moment it was impossible to say how much responsibility the dead should bear for the tragedy but such a serious humanitarian disaster has occurred under the eyes of the British and Europeans and has failed to fulfill their responsibility to protect the people from such a tragedy.
The bodies of 31 men and eight women were reportedly discovered on Wednesday, October 23, on an industrial estate at Grays in Essex. Reports that the bodies of the dead were believed to be Chinese nationals was further confirmed by the British police. The Chinese media hopes that Britain and European countries will put into effect their various commitments to human rights and make due efforts for Chinese people to be free from abuse and sudden death. However, a statement on the embassy website stated that the police are verifying the identity of the victims and their nationality still cannot be confirmed.
