Colombia: Drug smugglers saved from drowning by drug packets

Drug smugglers who were drowning were saved by the one and only thing that was floating nearby which were their products of cocaine packets and were rescued

As per reports, drug smugglers who were drowning were saved by the one and only thing that was floating nearby which were their products of cocaine packets. All three members were reported to be in good condition and have been charged by Colombian prosecutors for drug trafficking and manufacturing narcotics

Trio hanged on to the drug packets

As per Colombian Navy, the three people were found floating in the sea about 30 nautical miles off the town of Tumaco and hanging on sacks on a variety of different sizes that appeared similar to the ones used by drug smugglers. The report said that Coast Guard came at the scene and the three people who were afloat on material that looked like drugs said Capt. Jorge Maldonado of Colombia's Task Force Against Drug Trafficking.

Reports said that the men were rescued along with the sacks or packs and were bought to shores where the packages were tested positive for 1.2 tons of cocaine hydrochloride. The three men were on a boat. A wave and apparently capsized the boat. The three people were floating for at least three hours in Shark-prone waters of pacific oceans when they were spotted by Tumaco Coast Guard Unit which was patrolling the area at that point of time. Reports say that men were eventually rescued after seven hours of being afloat.

Later developments 

According to reports, Officials have published a photo of three men who were surrounded by dozens of bricks of cocaine. 

All three members were reported to be in good condition and have been charged by Colombian prosecutors for drug trafficking and manufacturing narcotics. The search is on for the fourth man who reportedly on the boat when it capsized as per Navy. Tumaco is amongst one of the main drug ports while exiting Colombia for Central America and the United States.
