Ex-contestant of Malayalam reality show alleges sexual assault in moving bus, man arrested

An ex-contestant of a popular Malayalam reality show alleged she was sexually assaulted by a man in a moving sleeper bus. woman had gone live on Facebook after alleged incident, when she tried to ask man about his actions. man has been arrested.

25-year-old celebrity, popular as a activist, was live on Facebook for 17 minutes in bus from Kallada Travels that was on its way from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangaluru. She had boarded bus from Aluva, while accused got in from Kollam. incident took place around 2 am on vember 28.

She is seen trying to question man sleeping on opposite berth of sleeper bus. woman alleged that he touched her inappropriately while she was asleep. When she woke up and ‘caught’ man, she immediately went live on Facebook and streamed it.

man tried to deny allegation in video. He also tried to hide his face as woman recorded video. woman is also heard asking employees of bus to take vehicle to police station. Later, however, he said ‘sorry’ and asked her to t take bus to police station.  

As per reports, woman registered a complaint at  Kottakal police station. After complaint, accused was taken into custody. police said accused tried to deny allegation by stating that he was only trying to close curtains at berth where woman was sleeping.

Later, celebrity also posted a photo of accused and receipt of case filed against him. accused is a 23-year-old whose name is Abdurahman Munawar Ali. She also posted ar video expressing her gratitude for all support she received.

Among or popular sexual assault case involving Malayalam celebrities is abduction and sexual assault of an actor that had made headlines in 2017. Malayalam superstar Dileep is one of accused in case for allegedly plotting incident. He was arrested, but he is currently out on bail since October 2017.  proceedings of case are still underway.
