Coronavirus outbreak: Total positive cases in Italy reach 27,980, death toll at 2,158

total number of confirmed cases of vel coronavirus in Italy have reached 27,980 but increase has been recorded at slowest pace since March 1. This could indicate deceleration of outbreak beyond peak point in country which is w being kwn as  epicenter of pandemic in Europe, as per media reports. 

According to media reports,  Civil Protection officials claimed that total number of new cases between March 16 to March 17 dipped from 2,853. health officials told media reporters that figures might change after virus hits its peak phase.  

Angelo Borrelli, he of Italy's Civil Protection Department, said in a media report that some data has t been evaluated yet, and so final tally may change, but authorities can say that re is a decrease in rate of increase that was ticed in trend. He furr ded saying that y were looking at figure of rate of spre with great attention. It was also a sign of how containment efforts and preventive measures were making an impact in curbing disease, he ded.

Italy needs to wait for cases reduction

data reflects contagion rate from approximately 12 to 14 ago, Franco Locatelli, president of Italy's Higher Council of Health, told media reporters. Italy h reportedly recorded 368 more deaths from vel coronavirus as of March 15, its highest one-day increase to date since outbreak.  rrn region Lombardy around Milan accounted for 67 per cent of country's total confirmed cases so far as per media reports.
