Coronavirus outbreak: UN releases USD 15 million as WHO raises risk level to 'very high'
United Nations has released USD 15 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to help fund global efforts to contain the novel Coronavirus.

UN Humanitarian Chief Mark Lowcock anunced release of fund after World Health Organisation (WHO) raised alert to its top level of risk assessment - ‘very high’.
“We do t yet see evidence that virus is spreing freely. As long as that’s case, we still have a chance of containing it,” said Lowcock.
UN funding has been released for WHO and UNICEF to help essential activities including monitoring spre of virus, investigating cases, and operation of national laboratories. WHO has called for USD 675 million in funding to combat dely virus. WHO Director-General Tedros ham Ghebreyesus said that biggest concern is countries with weaker health systems.

'Still chance to contain'
WHO has said that re is still a chance to contain dely virus if chain of transmission gets broken. Coronavirus cases in Italy, Iran, and South Korea dramatically increased within a week and w United States has also reported six deaths and 91 confirmed cases.

threat is growing with every passing day and European Union has also raised risk level of Coronavirus from ‘moderate’ to ‘high’. Speaking at a news conference on March 2, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen anunced that European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control raised risk level looking at concerning situation.
