China vows to strengthen international cooperation in search for coronavirus vaccine
China’s science & tech minister on 7 June stated that the country intends to strengthen international cooperation in future clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine.

China’s science and techlogy minister on 7 June stated that country intends to strengn international cooperation in future clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine, building on earlier collaboration in vaccine development. Reportedly, China is expending great efforts in a bid to quickly develop a vaccine for COVID-19, which h claimed over 4 lakh lives globally.
'Global Public Good'
As per reports, five Chinese labs are currently conducting clinical trials for coronavirus vaccine, this constitutes half of all such trials around world. Last month at World Heath Assembly, China’s President Xi Jinping promised that if China is first to develop a vaccine for dely coronavirus n it will be a ‘global public good’.

According to reports, in a press conference science and techlogy minister Wang Zhigang said that development of a vaccine remains fundamental goal of China’s attempts to ericate dely coronavirus. He ded that development process of a vaccine for any new disease is difficult and takes time. Some of scientists under Wang Zhigang have likened creation of a vaccine to a dance that involves very precise steps and a lot of practice.
In past weeks, US President Donald Trump has reportedly accused China of covering up details and official figures about coronavirus. China has, of course, denied se claims.

Operation Warp Speed
While US President Donald Trump has showcased optimism about COVID-19 vaccine being available by end of 2020, country’s medical experts have raised concerns over federal government’s “Operation Warp Speed” vaccine program. According to reports, even though approach of Trump’s ministration is reasonable, manner in which information is being mitigated to people is creating a sense of panic and even fueling anti-vaccine movements.

In a televised interview with CNN, Dr Peter Hotez, dean of National School of Tropical Medicine and professor of paediatrics and molecular virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine said on June 6 that re is a lot of “chaos and confusion” regarding federal government’s program. According to sources cited by international media outlet, Warp Speed program under Trump ministration has selected five companies that would most likely to manufacture COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases dr Anthony Fauci has said that he expects at least 100,000 doses of one vaccine me by Moderna to be available in US by 2020.
