WHO to convene 'emergency' meeting on Covid; embattled chief Dr Tedros lays out agenda

In view of Coronavirus crisis, World Health Organisation (WHO) will convene an emergency meeting on Thursday, April 30. This was anunced by WHO Director-General Tedros ham Ghebreyesus on Wednesday during a virtual briefing on Coronavirus.
During meeting, he h said, "I will convene emergency tomorrow because it is almost three months since we declared highest emergency and that was what was suggested by emergency committee -- to reconvene three months after declaration to evaluate evolution of pandemic and vise on updated recommendations."

WHO Chief's warning
On April 23, WHO chief Tedros ham Ghebreyesus warned that virus will be around for a long time. During a virtual press conference in Geneva, hanhom furr warned that most of countries in world are still in ir early sts of tackling crisis. He h said that some countries who h thought of having virus under control, are witnessing a resurgence in cases. According to him, UN health ncy h declared a global emergency in good time on January 30, as it gave time for countries to respond. During conference, he said, "Make mistake: We have a long way to go."

World Health Organization (WHO) h declared Coronavirus outbreak as a Pandemic on March 11. At present, re are around 3,219,242 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection across globe and disease has led to death of around 228,194 people. In a ray of hope, around 1,000,113 people are also reported to have recovered. Leing number of worldwide cases of vel coronavirus COVID-19 infection, United States has become new epicentre of pandemic surpassing China, Italy, and Iran.
