There is still no clarity on Rajinikanth’s political plunge, whether he’ll announce the name of his party or contest in the assembly elections in 2021, or if he will quit films after that. However, the ‘Megastar’s die-hard fans might not be too worried because he is continuing to do what they love him for, entertainment. Rajinikanth has not let his film career come in the way of politics. The veteran actor starred in Petta earlier this year, which success at the box office, and is now gearing up for the release of Darbar. Rajinikanth has shot for the movie at a breakneck speed and has now completed his shoot for the movie. The action film is now on course to release on the scheduled date of Pongal next year.
Lyca Productions, the makers of Darbar, announced that Rajinikanth has completed the shoot of the movie, while informing his fans to gear up for the #DarbarPongal. The official handle tweeted a photo of Rajinikanth with his director AR Murugadoss where they are smiling on the sets and wrote, “Aanndd it's a wrap for our #Thalaivar in #DARBAR get ready for #DarbarPongal.” They also used the blast or fireworks emoji and fans now know what they can expect.
All about Darbar
Rajinikanth plays the role of a police officer in Darbar, something he is doing after 27 years. The movie also marks his reunion with Nayanthara after Kuselan in 2008. Darbar will star Prateik Babbar in the role of an antagonist.
The film’s announcement was made with a lot of fanfare in April earlier this year. A poster of a smiling Rajinikanth with sunglasses, and guns and other symbols of the Mumbai Police and the Gateway of India was unveiled then and had sent his fans into a frenzy.
Incidentally, the 2.0 star’s last film Petta had also released on Pongal, last year. Petta was a big success at the box office, despite its clash with Ajith’s Viswasam. Fans had then said that the movie had brought back memories of Rajinikanth of his films of the earlier era, due to its typical ‘mass’ portrayal. No doubt, that Darbar would also follow a similar path. Rajinikanth will also seek to make it a hat-trick of hits after 2.0 and Petta.
