Denmark's Queen Margrethe 'sorry' for stripping royal titles from grandchildren
"This adjustment, which I view as a necessary future-proofing of the monarchy, I want to take in my own time," explained Denmark's Queen Margrethe II.

Denmark's Queen Margre II on October 3 issued a formal apology for stripping four of her eight grandchildren of ir royal titles. Calling her decision as "difficult", Europe's longest-reigning monarch said that controversial judgement that has caused a furore among her family members was "necessary". "This justment, which I view as a necessary future-proofing of monarchy, I want to take in my own time," explained Danish Queen in a statement published by royal palace on October 3.
Margre h declared last month that kids of her youngest son, Prince Joachim, would longer be allowed to use Royal titles of princes or princess effective January 1. She cited reason for why she was stripping m of ir entitlement. Danish Queen declared that four grandchildren—Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Ana—would only be allowed to use count or countess of Monpezat title. She furr explained that move was "in line with" measures taken by or European royal families.

"I have me my decision as Queen, mor and grandmor, but, as a mor and grandmor, I have underestimated extent to which much my younger son and his family feel affected. That makes a big impression, and for that I am sorry," Margre wrote.
Europe's Queen also emphasised that children could, henceforth, "shape ir own lives" without being limited "by special considerations and duties" of being born in a royal household. Margre, 82, anunced her decision via a statement released by Danish royal family.
"As of January 1, 2023, descendants of His Royal Highness Prince Joachim will only be able to use ir titles of Count and Countess of Monpezat, ir previous titles of Prince and Princess of Denmark ceasing to exist," Danish royal palace wrote in a statement.
'Children feel ostracised': Countess Alexandra
Queen's son Prince Joachim, d 53, will be sixth in line to Danish throne, and kids will be seventh to tenth. Palace clarified that Danish Queen's decision was me in consideration of "similar justments that or royal houses have me in various ways in recent years." rule will t impact Queen's eldest son, Crown Prince Frederik's four children, heir to throne. Royal titles will be retained by Prince Christian, 16, Princess Isabella, 15, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 11.

Prince Joachim, wife Princess Marie and ex-wife, Countess Alexandra, mor to princes Nikolai and Felix, have all been reportedly shocked by anuncement. Countess Alexandra told Sky news via press service: "We are all confused by decision. We are sdened and in shock. This comes like a bolt from blue."
